The word Survivor is a car that is loosely used a lot in the collector car world to
describe cars that remain highly original. It is in fact a trademark of Bloomington
Gold founder David Burroughs. For years, Burroughs encouraged the owners of
excellent original Corvettes to forego their restoration and carefully preserve
the original integrity of the vehicle. Cars that are awarded the Bloomington Gold
Survivor Award are only the extreme originals that serve as educational benchmarks
for Corvette restorers. A very small percentage of Corvettes have been preserved
for that very purpose and have received Survivor status.

The 1964 Corvette offered here is one of those cars, receiving the Bloomington
Gold Survivor certification in 2007. Built in June of 1964, the car is one of 3,454
finished in popular (916A) Daytona Blue matched with a black interior (Originally 490K
Blue Vinyl). At just over 58,000 miles, the car retains its factory original paint
and original interior (except Black Seats) both with wonderful patina. The 327 /
250 hp engine and engine by remain remarkably complete and original retaining
all its original ignition shielding, original air cleaner, carb, alternator. The water
pump was replaced out of necessity, however the original part is still with the car.
Other highlights include simulated Walnut steering wheel, AM/FM radio, spinner
wheel covers on Firestone bias-ply tires. Mechanically, the car is wonderful to drive
as it has never been taken apart and re-assembled. When it comes to investing
in cars, things matter. Original cars are highly sought after around the globe
for the obvious reason, they're only original once. The Corvette offered here is
exactly what Mr. Burroughs conceived when creating the Bloomington Gold
Survivor Award and will remain a template for years to come.
