Export Car: Non Export Car
Engine details: Engine now balanced, ported, Lt1 cam, baffled oil pan and intake manifold, side pipes.
Other details: The body trim plate has the interior code 407, which is Red vinyl. The car was never red inside per the original owner and picture. I asked the Corvette Forum what might have happened and this is the best explanation of the interior discrepancy offered to date: I worked for GM from 1960 to 1974 and can tell you that the idea of an incorrectly stamped plate (or an engine pad) doesn't surprise me a bit. Back in those days, it was get it out the door no matter what. That's why I take some things like bolt head markings with a real grain of salt. I also wouldn't be surprised if another car very close in the build sequence to yours has a red interior with a black code on the plate. It was very common for guys on the line to make things up ahead in order to get a little extra breather later.
