| Posted 12/07/2019 Over its sixty-plus year existence the Chevrolet Corvette has been offered in a variety of versions - with some more rare and desirable than others. This is one of those cars. Featuring the racing-purposed 36-gallon fuel tank, which remained one of the least-ordered items on the option list, this coupe is one of a scant forty-one big tank Corvettes built in 1965. Adding to its rarity, this Corvette is believed to be the only green exterior with green interior big tank with a 327/365 horsepower engine and air conditioning ever built and is one of two documented 1965 365 horsepower air condition equipped tankers in existence. Original in every way, the coupe retains its matching numbers L76 small-block engine, 4-speed manual transmission and 3.36:1 positraction differential. Handling and performance are enhanced by the factory four-wheel power disc brakes. This unique Corvette was ordered with every available option and is outfitted with the desirable off-road exhaust system and finned aluminum knock-off wheels. Inside the original cabin is the green leather interior with tinted glass, power windows, AM/FM radio and a teakwood steering wheel on the telescopic steering column. This rare Glen Green 1965 Chevrolet Corvette tanker was built at the St. Louis plant on March 8, 1965 and shipped to Norrington Chevrolet in Kansas City, MO. It was later restored in the mid 1980's and still looks great from every angle. Not surprisingly this Corvette coupe has earned a Bloomington Gold certificate, two NCRS Duntov Awards and was twice featured in the Bloomington Gold Special Collection.
