Lot #973.1 - The term no-expense-spared restoration is often used, however
one look at this 1966 triple-black convertible and you will actually see what it
means. This restoration began with a beautiful matching numbers survivor that
underwent the most meticulous restoration. The objective was to bring back to
life a car that was factory fresh and new using all original restored or NOS components.
Jimmy at H&H Corvettes in Fern Park, Florida, spent over 3,500 shop hours
working on this masterpiece. The paint and prep alone took six months and
almost $20,000 to complete. This Corvette started its life as a rust-free, original
body, matching numbers, 327cid/350hp with numerous factory installed options
including factory air, factory off-road exhaust, knock-off wheels, power
steering, power brakes and transistor ignition. Every major component used in
the restoration was either the original restored or NOS. All of the body and
fiberglass is original and in great condition. The glass is all date coded and
original. The engine, motor, transmission and rear are all original, date coded
and matching numbers. The engine was completely rebuilt, balanced and
blueprinted with a .030 bore and reassemble using OEM pistons. The transmission
was rebuilt using all NOS GM parts and gear. The rear end was rebuilt using all
NOS bearings. This vehicle can run on standard pump gas. The fit and finish is
terrific, the time and effort devoted to the paint and body work is staggering,
just to fit one door took almost two weeks. Notice the body lines and gaps, the
chrome finish of the bumpers, the crisp detail on the dash and gauges. The
underside looks as good as the top. The list of difficult to obtain and expensive
NOS materials goes on and on. This Vette restoration was completed without
the use of inexpensive reproduction parts, no shortcuts were taken. This is the
result of three years hard work and effort. All components are in excellent
working order. This is the opportunity to own a great 1966 Corvette convertible.
