Car history: |
Posted 03/27/2016 Lot #361.1 - This is a rare example of a first year Sting Ray. A high horsepower 327/340hp 4-speed, two top convertible built in the desirable combination of Tuxedo Black exterior with black interior and top. Engine is the absolute-without-question matching number original factory installed assembly, proper casting number, dated correct and an un-tampered original stamp pad back up by the original transmission and rear end. Color and trim are correct to the original Trim Tag. This car is the real deal, not a compilation of how we wished it was built. A total body-off restoration was commissioned in 2006, finished in Summer 2007 and driven less than 500 miles since completion. Total paint stripping revealed a spectacular no-damage- ever body, seldom seen in this condition. Body was prepared for show-quality paint and all cosmetics were restored to achieve the results you see here today. A beautiful rust-free frame received all rebuilt and restored mechanical components including a complete rebuilt to stock specifications of the original motor. While this fine car presents itself as a showpiece, the goal in this restoration was to have a car that both looked and performed as close to new as possible. The car is fast, tight and secure and has been driven enough since completion to assure the new owner his driving experience will not disappoint as so many unsorted restorations often do. Important considerations in the purchase of an investment grade Corvette are all in place on this particular car; a desirable model in appealing color and trim. A matching number correct high horsepower drivetrain, straight damage-free body, solid clean chassis and a restoration finished and sorted to be a car that is a pleasure to own and drive. |
