Lot #1652 - This classic has just recently received an extensive professional
restoration. Everything was cleaned, repaired, repainted, or replaced as required.
The intent was to produce a dependable classic midyear to cruise around and
show off in. Most of the original paint was still on the car when the restoration
was started so the body didn't require much more than a re-spray in the original
Riverside Red color. The top frame was sand blasted, repainted, then rebuilt
and a new Al Knoch top installed. The tires and brakes were replaced, bumpers
re-chromed, trim polished, and headlight door motors serviced. The folder of
documentation and receipts will stay with the car. The engine is a solid early 350
built with a small cam, vintage manifold and headers. The factory side pipes have
small glass pack mufflers added between them and the header collectors. The
sound produced is softer than many side pipe cars without losing that classic
throaty rumble. The original close ratio Muncie 4-speed transmission shifts very
well with its nice tight vintage Mr. Gasket linkage. The rear end differential contains
a 4:11 geared posi-traction. The original AM/FM radio is in place. A quartz clock
replaces the original. The wipers wipe and the gauges gauge. One of the most
important things is that the car stays cool. This Corvette is very solid.
