Lot #1117 - This Corvette was created with the concept of retaining the stock appearance
of one of the most iconic automobiles ever produced by General Motors, the 1967
Corvette Stingray, while employing today's technology for comfort, handling and
performance. The project was managed by, and all paint and assembly done by,
Outrageous Paint by GTS Customs of Simi Valley, CA. The car was finished in a
2003 50th Anniversary theme using Anniversary Red for the exterior and Shale
for the interior. The chassis began with a stock 1967 Corvette frame, up-fitted by
Newman Car Creations of Templeton, CA, to accept C4 Corvette rack & pinion
steering and suspension. It will stop quickly with its Hydratech brake booster, 14
inch Baer brakes and 6-piston calipers. The heart of this car is its powertrain. The
engine was based on the infamous Corvette Racing's LeMans-winning C5-R engine
and built by Lingenfelter Performance Engineering of Decatur, Indiana. This special
C5-R block was fitted with a Moldex billet steel crankshaft, JE pistons, LPE CNC
ported LS7 heads, Ferrea valve springs and Comp Cam rocker arm assemblies.
The exhaust exits through a custom set of Kook's headers and 3 inch side pipes
hidden under the stock Corvette covers. This naturally aspirated engine produces
615hp. The power is transferred through the drivetrain utilizing an Advanced Clutch
Technology twin-disc carbon-fiber clutch enclosed in a Quick Time steel bell housing
and custom-built Tremec T-56 6-speed transmission by G-Force of Cleona, PA. It
features carbon-fiber drive and half-shafts and an Eaton TrueTrac differential with
4:11 gears, enclosed in a custom differential case by Newman Car Creations. The
stock appearing interior was upgraded in French-stitched leather by Caravaggio of
Ontario, Canada. The only major changes to the interior were Caravaggio's custom-
designed Corvette C5 seats modified to provide more comfort while increasing hip
and shoulder support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and Auto Meter Phantom
series gauges with LED lighting. Additional features include air conditioning, 6-way
power adjustable seats, tilt wheel and AM/FM/CD stereo system.
