This C2 is an A.O. Smith body built, painted and assembled in Ionia, Michigan on February 24, 1966. Following a water test and final inspection, the completed body on its wheeled build truck was loaded on a tri-level railroad car and shipped to the General Motors Corvette assembly plant in St. Louis. Transit time varied from four days to two weeks. The trains were driven right into the plant at St. Louis , and the bodies were unloaded into a scheduling area, where they were stored until final production. GM shipping records indicate the final build date of the completed car as March 7, 1966, our cars official birthday. Our C2 was the 149,241 Corvette built by Chevrolet, 1 of 27,270 Corvettes built in 1966, 1 of 17762 convertables for that year model. |

| Car history: |
| After production, our corvette was shipped to Scribner & Lewis Chevrolet, Inc. at 808 N. Pearl Street, Bridgeton , NJ. Scribner & Lewis Chevrolet operated from 1923 until the late 70's. A Chevrolet dealership still operates in the same building at the same location but is now known as Bob Novick Chevrolet. Nothing is known about the original purchaser but we do know that in 1996 the car was registred to a couple in Brookeville, Maryland. The car was sold to gentleman in the military and made its way to Orlando where we purchased it in 1998. |
