Featured here is a very highly optioned and very correct factory 427/390hp Coupe. This car has a wonderful color combination with its original Marina Blue exterior paint, Bright Blue vinyl interior and black Stinger. This Vette is documented with an original tank sheet, judging sheets, restoration photos, receipts and owner history dating back to 1973. This car was purchased new at Warren Briggs Chevrolet, 203 S. Vermont Ave. Los Angeles, CA. The original owners name and original sales date is not known for sure, but could be the same one that is listed on the 1973 California registration. The vehicle was first restored by Joseph Tripoli Jr. and is featured in his book How to Restore a Corvette Chassis 1953-1972 as a correct reference point for correct chassis restoration of a 1967 Corvette frame. This Corvette is not a wannbe it is the real deal, and if you are looking for a class by itself, then please look at this Chevy. In the late 80s and early 90s standards for the NCRS were much less rigid than they are today. Several hundred man hours were put into this car along much effort collecting all the correct small parts, nuts, bolts and hardware. Some of the bigger parts that were not correct were replaced with either NOS or correct replacement parts. This car was well maintained during its life and there are a very few old service replacement parts on this car to this day.
Of the 229 Corvettes Coupes manufactured with the L36 427/390hp engine, C60 4- seasons air conditioning and m35 Powerglide transmission, only 46 of them were equipped with California emissions . When you take into consideration the headrest seats, telescopic steering wheel, color combination and the other options, the number will be far fewer again. This car was restored to the strictest standards of the NCRS and won the 2006 National Convention Top Flight in San Antonio Texas with a raw score of 96.5 points-without any driving points. When you consider all of these facts, this Corvette most definitely qualifies as #1 in any collector book pricing guide. |
