| Car history: |
Car was ordered by Don Campbell of Seattle, WA through Delmo Johnson's dealership in Dallas, Texas. I have spoken to both of them and two other past owners. Car was restored in the late 80's by a California collector who is unknown at this time. Would really like to find him. Don and Delmo were Grand Sport race car drivers back in the '60's and they have many stories to share. I even obtained a metal dealer plaque from Delmo that were installed on all Chevys sold at his dealership including Corvettes. They would drill two holes in the rear left top fender and epoxy the plaque to the car. I removed the two posts and used double sided adhesive foam.
The car has many original options, the only ones I added were the Power Steering and Reproduction Knock-Off Wheels. This car was obviously ordered with some weekend club racing in mind with the J56, F41, L72, N36, N14 and even the V74 and the A31 options.
The car is numbers matching original engine, transmission, rear diff, manifolds, heads, etc. I even found a date coded water pump and replaced the 1971 version that was on my car. Ended up selling that pump to a guy that needed a '71 date.
This is my first corvette and it has been a pleasure meeting fellow enthusiasts at club events, Carlisle, local shows and even at the gas station when I fill it up.
Hope you enjoy the photos. |
