Car history:
1967 Corvette: Marina Blue, Big Block Resto-Rod. No expense spared, rotisserie-quality restoration. Every nut and bolt has been replaced, upgraded or restored. This car was built to be shown and driven. It can pull duty as a trailer queen, but really shines when it’s driving down the road. Well over $100,000 was invested and countless man hours in assembly. A binder full of receipts and pictures is included with this car. What’s extra cool about this car are the factory options that have remained to keep the car looking stock: speed warning, telescoping steering wheel, power windows, power steering, power brakes, head rest seats, leather seats and real Harrison A/C. Also, the attention to detail is outstanding; even items like the original washer fluid bag and the splash shields are restored and installed.

I am an amateur Corvette collector and I love all Corvettes, from a NCRS show car to a hot rod, rubber bumper car. I have an appreciation for each Corvette and enjoy them independent of one another. I’m providing some background here, because I would like the next owner of this fine ’67 to know a little about the research I put into each car before I make a purchase. With most cars I buy, I enjoy the hunt. Sifting through want ads, making calls and traveling to check out what will be the next purchase. I like cars that are unique or that have an interesting story or documented history. I have also become smart enough (just barely!) to know that there are a lot of people out there better than I am at restoring Corvettes. Those meticulous, nut and bolt kind of guys that will redo a certain thing 10 times just in order to get it perfect. This is one of those cars. The gentleman I purchased this car from was that kind of guy. I purchased this car a few years ago, and like most cars, have driven it just enough to keep the fuel from going stale. I have put less than a 1000 miles on it since I purchased it. Below is a description.

Exterior: The base coat/ clear coat, Marina Blue paint, with Black stinger is near concours quality. Even the door jambs are like glass. The hood is an original 1967 big block hood. All glass is perfect. All chrome is either new or restored. The wheels are American Racing Torque Thrusts. All lights work, all body gaps are perfect. All seals are new. When you wash the car, there are no surprise leaks. All stainless window trim fits as it should and is in excellent condition. This appears to be a no-hit car. All body panels are in excellent alignment: the gaps are consistent and the panels and doors are in the same plane. The grill is new. All lights, bezels, door handles, emblems, etc. have been replaced. All lights, high/ low beams, blinkers, brake and reverse lights work as new. Doors open easily and close soundly. Windows (including vent windows) work and seal perfectly.

Interior: Seats are new, black leather (completely rebuilt). The backs tilt, lock and they slide forward and back as new. The factory headrests are also recovered in leather. Carpet fits perfectly with added sound deadening/ heat shielding material in the front driver’s and passenger’s footwells (a blessing when driving a big block). All gauges are original factory 1967 Corvette gauges that have been professionally restored. The clock and radio are restored and operate properly. These are original factory headrest seats (headrests have been restored). The glovebox, door panels, shifter bezel, headliner, door sills, steering wheel, both dash boards and emergency brake lever have all been restored. The brake and clutch carriage has been restored and both pedals feel new and tight. The gas pedal is a firm feeling Lokar. Every light, switch and lever functions properly.

Chassis: The frame has been stripped and powder coated. The body, doors and hood all received professional paint removal, stripping and base/clear Marina Blue paint courtesy of Curry’s Hot Rods in Missouri. The body was reinstalled with all new hardware and shimmed perfectly. Rear suspension has been upgraded with a Vette Brake Products fiberglass spring and Bilstein shocks. Half shafts have been restored and rebuilt. Trailing arms have been replaced with new, heavy duty off set aluminum units. The front suspension has been replaced by a Vette Brake Products monospring system. Upper and Lower A-Arms are now meaty aluminum and heavy duty ball joints, tie rods and sway bar have been installed. This car rides very firmly and handles as if on rails. The brake system is all brand new from the master cylinder and brake lines (rubber lines have been replace with VBP Braided Stainless) to the heavy duty calipers and slotted rotors. Both the power steering and power brake systems are brand new. All wiring harnesses have been replaced with Lectric Limited kits. Each line, cable and/ or wire is properly secured, routed and wrapped (as appropriate). The firewall is clean enough to eat from. Both headlights, headlight motors and wiper motors have been rebuilt. The headlights open and close smoothly, high and low beams work correctly and the windshield wipers work as they should.

Engine & Drivetrain: This is a 454 engine that has been bored to 468 cubic inches. This motor has been professionally balanced and blueprinted. New JE Pistons and Rings, New Edelbrock Intake, Rebuilt Heads with Crane Cams Rockers/ Springs, ARP Bolts, Holley Street Avenger Carb, New MSD Ignition, Coil and Distributor, New Stainless Fuel Lines, Gas Tank Fuel Pump and Sending Unit, Streetdampr Harmonic Damper, New Water Pump, New Exhaust Manifolds with HPC Coating, New Side Pipe Exhaust and Covers, New Chrome Powermaster Alternator, New Powermaster Mini-Starter, A/C system has been completely rebuilt and is original, NOT “vintage air”. New Lokar transmission, throttle cables and dipstick assembly compliment the new Taylor Pro 8 mm spark plug wires and stock appearing chrome valve covers. The transmission is a Bow Tie 700R4 with overdrive, Level 3 (up to 750 hp) with heavy duty torque converter (the transmission has been installed and tested according to Bowtie procedures and results documented to confirm proper operation). The drive shaft has been re-balanced and shortened and mated up to a new, rebuilt differential with 3.36 gears.

The engine compartment has kept a “traditional” look, rather than a billet, race motor, type look although it would not be too difficult or expensive to go that way, should the next owner desire (some valve covers, air cleaner and pulleys would do the trick). However, I enjoy the fact that the car looks very close to stock when driving down the road and at first glance under the hood. However, it certainly does not drive like a stock ’67 big block.

Operation: The car fires right up (thanks to that Accel ignition…just a couple of cranks and BAM!) and idles smoothly. The new side pipes sound great (especially from a big block). The engine has gobs of power and torque. A mild cam was installed to enhance drivability although it still has a very throaty idle. Every light bulb, turn signal, brake/ reverse light, etc. works properly. The Speed Warning works and is a super cool reminder of the era of this car. The power steering and power brakes are phenomenal. They provide just enough assistance to make turning and slowing a pleasure but not enough to lose the feel (really nice when getting out of the garage or parking lot maneuvering. The overdrive is really nice, especially cruising down the highway at 70 around 2200 rpm. The shifting from gear to gear is a little aggressive unless you are on the gas. This can be adjusted (although I like the “lurch” as it shifts) depending on the preference of the next owner. The car handles, turns and tracks sharp and true. No issues. In fact, the car is a real pleasure to drive in real world conditions. It seems that in the past, I’ve always had a nervous eye on the temperature gauge with Big Block Mid-Years, but the DeWitts aluminum radiator and twin electric Spal fans keeps the engine running nice and cool. The air condition blows very cold, but like through a straw. Maybe it's because I'm used to my Silverado on high, but it's good enough to temper the hot weather.
