This is not an amatuer or backyard restoration. It was done BY THE BOOK !! The car came to us as a very original & extremely nice driver, a car that most people would love to own & drive. The frame is the correct semi gloss black with all of the factory stencils & chalk marks. The front suspension has the correct gloss black "A" arms & everything that is supposed to be a natural bare finish, is just that. The rear suspension is also correct, the spring is the proper gray, the half shafts, yokes, differential housing, cover & driveline have all been returned to the natural state as it left the factory. There is NO cast iron gray paint in a can that you see on so many so called restored cars. The bottom of the body is all bare fiberglass just as it should be.
While the body was off being painted, the original motor & transmission were completely rebuilt with the best & most correct parts available. All of the parts on the motor are the ones this car came with from the factory !! Upon disassembly of the motor we found that the factory steel shim head gaskets were still intact, the motor had never been apart before we rebuilt it !! The M21 close ratio was in excellent shape & recieved all brass, bearings, gaskets & seals. The 4.11 posi was rebuilt & still has the dated ring & pinion.
The interior is black & perfect !! The seats were just done & have less than 10 miles on them !! This car recieved 5 Top Flights with the original seats !! They were replaced because one of the seams finally split. We do all of our own interior work & the seats received new foam, burlap, corrugated wire, install kit, covers & hockey sticks.
The paint, which is the only thing we don't do, was done by DB Custom Autoworks. It is the original Nassau blue. He has been doing Corvettes for years & at one time worked for us. It is nothing short of stunning !! On a scale of 1-10 it is an 11. Words don't do this car justice & in person this car stands tall !! There are tens of thousands of dollar spent on this car & tons of time. It had never even been washed with water until about 2 months ago !!
If you are thinking about buying an investment quality car, this is truly it !! Even at the "BUY IT NOW" price, it is a bargain over what you would be able get a car of this caliber for at Barrett Jackson !!
Now for the Important stuff !! The Broach marks, Stamp pad, VIN & production stamp have been verified as original & perfect 5 times by the NCRS. The cars build date is D 30, The block- #3869942 with a J 4 5 cast date, T1118 IP and 6107936 VIN stamp. Transmission- 6S407936 VIN, 3885010 case, 3857584 tailshaft housing & 3884685 cover. Differential- FB code 4.11 posi, 12 1 65 stamp & K 6 5 cast date. Bellhousing- 3872444, 11" used only for 1966. RH exhaust manifold- 3880828, H 13 5 cast date. LH exhaust manifold 3880827, the date can't be seen, but it is the original. Both are the correct non A.I.R. The alternator- 110696-42A dated 5M1, Intake- #3885069 that is restored & perfect. Holley Carburetor- #3886101, List 3247with 501 date ( 10th month, first week 1965). Distributor tag- 1111093. Voltage regulator 5L 1119, 515. Power brake master cylinder with it's original caps 5497084. The windshield code is AJ, passenger glass & vent wing is YJ, drivers glass YJ & drivers vent CJ, soft top 10/65 vinylite AS6. Side & rear view mirror 11-DMI-5. If you look in a NCRS judging book or the Corvette black book you will find that all of the numbers are what they should be. |
