Car history: |
I am the 4th owner. 2nd owner bought from Pat Pearson in late 1969 or 1970 when entering the Marine Corps. 3rd owner bought from his brother when he was going into the Marine Corps. In early 1980's, he pulled out the original motor with around 60k miles on it and still running good. He put it in the corner of his garage. A friend of his had a motor built but could not pay to get it out of the machine shop. It was a pretty modified 327 motor with heavy head work by Mondello Head Service and a high lift solid cam. Bigger than the Duntov 30/30 cam. He seized that motor less than 2 years later in 1982. He then parked it in the garage, put in on blocks, drained the gas from the tank so kids wouldn't try to mess with it, and time marched by. He never did get a chance to pull the motor. He had pulled a valve cover and that was it. I bought from him, my uncle in law, in June 2012. I am in the process of building another motor for it as to not damage the original RX coded motor with matching vin# as my car. I am freshening up then wrapping it up in a bag and putting the original motor away for future install some day when the time is right. It turns over and is in good shape. Original crank, pistons, rods, cam, oil pan, harmonic balancer timing cover, oil baffle plate, fuel injection, distributor K66, fuel pump. Stunning original interior - rear carpet replaced due to 8-track install....... |
