Lot #435 - Very rare Corvette, 396/425hp, Complete frame-off restoration by
Richard Petty's Garage in North Carolina completed in November 2014. Over
600 hours was spent on the restoration, and every original part that could be
brought back to new condition was rebuilt, repaired, rechromed. Engine,
transmission, rear differential were completely rebuilt. Brake lines and fuel
lines were upgraded to stainless steel. Complete wire harness was replaced,
and the factory radio was reconditioned. All hardware is factory replacement.
Seat frame and top frame were reconditioned. Numbers stenciled on frame.
All new date-matched glass. The frame and exterior paint have been finished to
a higher quality than the original. Car is well-documented with invoices and
letters pertaining to its history, as well as photos of the restoration. The late
British actor Sir John Mills originally purchased the car for his daughters,
actresses Juliet and Hayley Mills. Juliet Mills and her husband, actor Maxwell
Caulfield, owned the car through the mid-1980s. 65,419 original miles, title reads exempt.
